Playing those strings until their fingers are raw...

According to the band's home page, www.thesurrogateband.com, they have stated...

"Our next show will be Saturday April 22 at 'POPs Concert Venue' in Sauget, Illinois. This is a sweet place with great sound and a great vibe."

The Echoes Hub would like to personally thank Alex from The Surrogate Band for offering soundboard recordings from their various amazing performances. - The International Echoes Hub Latest News (for the not so savvy) -

Yo maaaan, let's like, talk about a computer and like, hubs and stuff. And Windoze and rekwirements and kewl stuff like that yo.

The International Echoes Hub is now up and running on it's new server.

What we wanted: A Dual Core Athlon or Dual Xeon P4 w/ 4GB of PC3200 Memory & 100TB of HD space. (well who wouldn't ???)

What we needed: Not a Dual Core Athlon or Dual Xeon P4 w/ 4GB of PC3200 Memory & 100TB HD space.

What we had: Two years ago we started with an old hearty Pentium Pro 200Mhz w/256MB ram and a 6GB HD. It still lives in the basement and may be used again for a future explosive scientific experiment or donated to one of the Kalahari Bushmen tribes or something of the like. But it's time has passed and unfortunately this once and mighty machine just couldn't handle the requests of today's technology. Then we somehow adopted more parts and rebuilt a Pentium II 366 w/384MB of Ram that was just awful and was what most of you experienced with the constant crashing and locking up over the holidays. This has now become a future boat anchor so no, you cannot have it. Although we will send you pictures of it sinking to the bottom of the sea (by request only).

What we built: P4 1.7Ghz w/ 1.2GB of PC800 Rambus memory and an 18GB Cheetah SCSI III 15KRPM Ultra 160 HD plugged into a Tekron Ultra 160 SCSI III Controller Card all sitting on an Intel 850 MB in an aluminum case w/ six fans running Windows 2000 Advanced Server.

Why we built a new server: Here's where it gets kinda geeky. Response time is the entire amount of time that it takes for software or hardware to switch from performing one task to another task in response to an external query. Operating Systems occasionally disable interrupts to perform housekeeping functions. During this time, they are unable to respond to certain external events, drastically increasing the probability of a worst-case response time.

Hub software is open source. Open-source software is built and enhanced through public collaboration then distributed in source form which can be freely modified and redistributed. This is partly why many amateur system operators that are running hubs are not able to run them for long periods of time or sustain a flawless environment for their subscriber base.

When millions of units operate for thousands of hours (e.g. 1 quintillion clock cycles), bugs that occur only once in a billion times, actually occur billions of times. And each time they occur the system responds much more slowly than normal, which may cause an irreproducible crash, lock up, or glitch if not rebooted and the memory cleared regularly. (Especially in any Windows environment).

Finally, not only do we have the IT experience and compounded strategy to avoid these everyday issues, but we now have the CPU power, disk speed and memory to support the dc++ protocol until the end of time.

Primary Objective: To guarantee everyone a reliable and stable home away from home, 24 hours a day.

For those that thought they knew it all, I hope this explains why lawyers should stick to the court room. At least they have a 50/50 shot. They definitely have proven that they do not have the same odds with running a successful hub. Just leave the techies alone, we know what we are doing.

- New Registration Process -

There is a new registration process to weed out the weaklings.

Existing members will be happy to know that we have had 60 registrations in the last four days and only seven new members followed the instructions properly and have been granted access!

This means 53 people who couldn't follow basic directions, were NOT granted access, Phew!

Be on the lookout for new members with a slightly higher IQ than previously!
