A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall _____________________________________________ From the taper: NOT A BOARD MIX, six mics into a 2 channel mixdown to 44.1k, mics placed on stage with Bill's permission. 2 microtech gefills on bill's 2 fender amps, placed about 3 feet back , Kenny got 2 Shure SM81's I think in Y arrangement about 4 feet back, panned to the centre, Viktor is off to the left and he gets 2 Neumans, a TLM 127 I believe on the amp and a TLM 103 on the acoustic bass catching the nuance of the wood.2 sets/night and one CD of the encores.. I'm offering the whole set complete because they show a development in the performances and a wide spectrum of improvisational approaches and moods over the 3 nights. Please keep them complete in the re-vining. A little about the shows. They ran 3 nights, all nights had two shows. The second and third nights they cleared the house if that's what you're asking. But each set should be considered a separate show. I don't really get the distinction though as Bill begins each set and follows a loose order subject to change as the mood hits him regardless of whether it's first set, second set or whatnot. The times of the shows were all equivalent, hit, run aprx 1 hour 20 minutes to 1hour and a half, encore if appropriate and set ends. About an hour between sets. Second set begins with all new tunes. There's never a repeat of tunes within a night. All the conversation and jokes, group bantering and comments are not on the discs, choice between music and talk, a crucial consideration on an 80 min cdr. I tape the mixed down signal to a DAT, the digital conversion done through the front end of a tascam DA-P1 which I like the sound of. The digital out signal goes to the Tascam burner in digital form. Pauses in the CDR are done on that machine, the DAT never stops. ___________________________________ Tom's notes: This is a great recording. Please note that I got this from an audio vine. I extracted using EAC in secure mode, I had errors on the first two discs, but the did extract. Errors were at the end of the tracks. The results sounds great, no problems that I heard. All other disc extracted flawlessly.
