Additional Notes:

I own the silver boot "The Catalyst Tapes Volume 1", Broken Arrow2684A, and
I can attest that this source for the early show is superior and more complete 
than my boot source.
Broken Arrow also released a boot for the late show on this date, but it is 
very rare and appears on very few tradelists.

I believe this source originates from from the TOTW tree seeded from Hempsall
Subsequent lineage unknown. Notes for the Tree are below.

Remarks of Ian Rosen who provided the seed discs for the tree:

The mix on these recordings is vocal heavy as is typical with SBD's from
smaller clubs. However, the quality of these CDR's is much better than the
bootlegs that came from these recordings and which are mentioned on page 583
in Shakey. A very hard rock version of Neil, abandoned quickly to make way
for 2 summers of International Harvester shows.

The Background:
February 1984: Neil Young w/ Crazy Horse again. The 'Shocking Pink' Tour was
over and the long tour w/ The International Harvesters ('84/'85) hadn't yet
started.  Neil and The Horse played four shows at the small Catalyst club in Santa
Cruz, CA on February 6 & 7, 1984. Two sets (early and late) each day.
The shows were "stunningly loud, purely electric concerts" (Pete Long,
Ghosts On The Road) with a number of new songs (including one of my all-time favourites: 
Touch The Night).  Some songs are still unreleased.  Several attempts to produce a record 
before and after the shows failed. Another abandoned project...
A good number of bootlegs are available (especially first day - early and
second day - late)
