  • Roger Waters Arena di Verona 5 June 2006 Recorded using Sony PCM-M1 DAT with AT831s Series Microphones through a Low-Z to Hi-Z Input Transformer. Mastered from DAT to Pioneer PDR-609 Stand alone CDR > CD Wave > > flac This recording came out very well but there is some wind noise during the first set as there was a storm brewing which we were lucky to almost avoid during the gig. This does not in my opinion detract to any great degree from the enjoyment of the recording. CD One FIRST HALF: 1. In The Flesh 2. Mother 3. Shine On You Crazy Diamond 4. Leaving Beirut 5. Have A Cigar 6. Wish You Were Here 7. Set The Controls For the Heart Of The Sun 8. The Gunner's Dream 9. Southampton Dock 10. The Fletcher Memorial Home 11. Perfect Sense (Parts 1 and 2) CD Two 1. Sheep SECOND HALF: Dark Side of the Moon. 2. Speak To Me 3. Breathe 4. On The Run 5. Time 6. Breathe (Reprise) 7. The Great Gig In The Sky 8. Money 9. Us And Them 10. Any Colour You Like 11. Brain Damage 12. Eclipse ENCORE: 13. Band Introduction 14. The Happiest Days Of Our Lives 15. Another Brick In The Wall (Pt 2) 16. Vera 17. Bring the Boys back Home 18. Comfortably Numb This was always going to be any interesting test for me. I saw two David Gilmour gigs in Manchester and London followed by the two Roger Waters gigs in Verona all within 11 days. You already know from my previously torrented recording of Manchetser how great I thought the David Gilmour gig was. Personally I have always been a fan of Roger's work above that of David since the split in 1987. That is not to say I am not a Gilmour fan so please do not start that thread here. But after the Manchester and London gigs I thought Roger would not be able to top them. How wrong I was proved to be. The whole live presentation of the music by Roger and band is done from a completely different perspective to that of David. Whilst David's gig was more laid back and well mannered, Roger's, in comparison, is a full on rock show. The setlist was excellent and was tweeked just enough from the 1999/2000/2002 to include a number of interesting additions. It was great to see "The Gunner's Dream" back for the first time since the Pros and Cons tour in 1984/1985. Also to see him play "The Fletcher Memorial Home" for the first time as well as "Sheep" for the first time in 29 years were treats. But let's not dwell on specific songs. The show as a whole works magnificently. This recording is from the second of the two nights in Verona. I recorded the first night too but it misses the encores due to technical difficulties. I will post it anyway as it is until I can find another recording to patch the missing encores from. Finally I would like to dedicate this recording to a few English guys who I met in a bar near the backstage entrance to the Arena di Verona on Sunday. It was nice talking to you and I know we all had a ball these two nights. I have included a few photos I took. If anyone with any expertise wants to use them to make some artwork then please feel free. Enjoy davem
