See notes below. Notes: I got this show without an info file, so using gspot I gathered the DVD data. This is a fantastic show; supreme quality improvement over the single DVD of this same show. This one has the award ceremony in the dressing room before the show begins. Dream Theater's 1994 album Awake was certified platinum status. James Labrie came down with food poisoning before this show was taped. His voice was damaged from that experience and during this show he had trouble with some songs, most notable Another Day for its high register. He definitely gave 100% that he had available. Everyone else was spot on that night. John Myungs birthday was honored that night and he was nervous about getting cake in the face, but he didn't. On the single DVD the bass guitar was very loud and overdriven, but on this collection it was much better, I thought it was the proper amount of volume in the mix. Derek did well that evening, he had only been in the band for 4 months at that point. I thought his attempt to model the sax solo at the end of Another Day was lacking enthusiasm and gave me the feeling he wasn't trying to model that solo at all. Between Voices and The Silent Man there was a 15 second 'moment of silence' to honor the loss of life during the earthquake that struck that area. I remember reading that Dream Theater was in the earthquake, but not harmed by it. The Metropolis 2 bonus material does not have a date with it, and my best guess is that its from San Francisco California as during one song James screams "SAN FRAN!" right before a breakdown. However, at the start of each song is the Metropolis 2 CD cover with the song title, the label name "east west japan" and an icon that says "ROCK CITY" in the upper right corner. All that material is single camera with zoom-ins except Fatal Tragedy, it has multiple camera shots with different lighting which makes me think its a matrix of video of that song only. I think this show would be an official release if James had not been ill with the voice that night. Its every bit as good as the 1993 Live in Tokyo official release in my opinion, excluding JLB's voice. NEVER, EVER BUY THIS OR SELL FOR PROFIT. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL BE DEALT WITH SWIFTLY.
