It's an outstanding performance, one of Zep's greatest shows, unfortunately the only source available is of very poor quality. Some thoughts: to my surprise when I first listened to this release I noticed I was really enjoying the sound so I wondered if my Zep-phobia had driven me so far to make me swallow any kind of recording, irrespective of its quality. Was I so accustomed to hearing Zep live recordings that my brain could automatically offset poor-sounding tapes ? I compared this release with the other two versions I already had in my collection: a 2nd gen>dat(2)>cdr and a 2nd gen>CDR downloaded from Presence server. The two 2nd gens are louder and they sound more overloaded and distorted (amplification ?) than this Badgeholder set; the Presence one is more hissy. Badgeholders is quieter but I must say it has more depth and is in general brighter. The instruments are more discernable, especially Jimmy's guitar and Robert's voice, I dont know whether this is due to lower tape generation or equalisation. Dont expect too much, mind you, I still think this show is not suitable for the occasional collector but remains something for completists and Zephaolic like me. The improvement in terms of sound quality is slight, but to my ears it's enough to make this recording enjoyable. Needless to say that a lot may depend on the listener's personal tastes, and unless a soundboard or an excellent audience source comes to light we'll have to settle for this one. About the tracks of this release: the first four seconds of Immigrant Song are cut while the 2nd gen>dat(2)>cdr has a more complete beginning of track. Moby Dick is not complete and runs for about 13 mins (same goes for the Presence 2nd gen>CDR version) while the 2nd gen>dat(2)>cdr features a complete Moby Dick.
