  • King's X Ruth Eckerd Hall Clearwater, FL Aug. 21, 2002 ALD-Soundboard recording ** mp3 samples provided (as always) in the Comments section ** Here's another fine Jim F. recording brought to you by TheCommish! TheCommish notes: I can't say I'm necessarily a fan of these guys, but my buddy Sammy is. And besides, Jim was kind enough to share it here...and you KNOW the sound quality is outstanding on his shows...so I was willing to phase-correct and share it here for others' enjoyment. I hope you like it. Joe Satriani was the main act that night (King's X was the opener, thus the short set)...and the Satriani ALD/SBD was previously shared via torrent #230956. And it was pretty popular, too. Setlist: 01. Dogman 02. Lost In Germany 03. Cigarettes 04. It's Love 05. We Were Born To Be Loved 06. Moanjam Running time: 36:40 Lineage: ALD/SBD > D8 (listen box--from the parking lot) DAT > CDR > TheCommish, then: CDR > EAC > Wave files > Editing (see below) > FLAC Frontend > FLAC Editing notes: * Show was recorded out-of-phase; show was phase-corrected (to be "in-phase") via Cool Edit Pro * Re-tracked entire show by combining in Nero's wave editor and re-splitting the show with CD Wave * Using Nero's wave editor, applied small fade-in to the intro music on Track 01 and applied a small fade-out to the applause on Track 05 ALD (assisted listening device) soundboard recordings are usually knocked for their "thin" sound quality (high amount of treble, not enough bass), but I don't think that's a real issue here at all. As such, Jim's files have been unaltered for sound quality (i.e., no EQ performed)--if some of you prefer to have more bass in your ALD recordings, I'll let you do your own EQ work since it then becomes a matter of personal taste. As for me, I think the show sounds great, as-is. Jim F. notes: (regarding his ALD-SBD shows): "ALDs (fm-sbd) perfect captures in most or all cases..however somewhat lacking bass..more than regular fm..The best place to rec these shows was from the park lot..! the signal was the best there..!" If you decide to download this show, won't you please consider posting a comment on the show's board? It only takes a moment, and believe me, it takes A LOT longer to prepare/upload a show for others to enjoy than it does to download and run. And won't you please consider thanking Jim for this mighty fine show? Generously donated by Jim F. (undiscokidd), and uploaded on DIME by TheCommish April 2009
