He permits taping and soundboard access is available on occasion. This night, however, there wasn't time, which left us scrambling for a microphone. My boy Leafy Barry somehow came up with a single SM-57 which he would take command of at several points during the show to add his views on Oasis, Satan, and the like. Despite the imperfect recording rig, the sound is more enjoyable to me than the next night's board tape - intimate, warm sound just the way it was that night. Just into the first song, Chris's amp blew out, and you hear a roar from the audience as he mutters "fuck it, I'll play acoustic" without stopping. There follows a brief break for repairs once the song is done. PLEASE: http://chriswhitley.com Visit Chris's site for tourdates, he is constantly on the road playing a small club near you. Check out a show, buy a cd from him there (Dirt Floor is my favorite), and say hello.
