But that didn't matter, because they were incredible! Toto always puts on a fun show, and their performance exudes so much energy. Steve Lukather recently announced that this it for a while for the band, so getting to see a couple of these final shows is a real treat and definitely something that should be cherished. My seats were extremely close to the stage. Common tapers lore dictates that while these are great seats to see the show, they are not really great seats to record from. I would say this was true in the past, and depending on the band, is still true today. But Toto has speakers on the stage facing the crowd with a wonderful sound mix, and this is a recording of that mix. I had wonderful results from similar seats last year in Lynn, MA, and those results were nearly repeated here. In fact, I think from a pure sound quality standpoint, this is a superior recording to that one. Unfortunately, there was an enthusiastic super-fan seated directly to my left, who liked to scream alot. Appearantly she follows the band all over the world. I can't really complain! Her enthusiasm is appropiate for a concert, and the band digs it. There are some spots on the recording, where she is a bit loud, which mires what would otherwise be a perfect recording. I can't fault her for her enthusiasm, but it's unfortunate she was right next to me. You can also hear her sing along in a couple spots. You can tell she was a superfan, because it wasn't "Rosanna" or "Africa" she was singing along with, but it was stuff like "Home Of The Brave" and "Lion"! I can hear it in the left channel but really only noticeable with headphones, and even then pretty low in the mix. About 2/3 of the way through the show I thought I probably should have switched seats with my wife who was on my right. However the angle to the speaker was different and the sound quality might have been diminished so I stayed put....so I'm not sure what choice was better. As usual I actually ran two different rigs and I believe this is the better one, only because these mics are more directional and picked up less of the superfan than my other mics. Artwork is included in the torrent, with photos from the actual show. PLEASE DO NOT USE AS A SOURCE FOR A MATRIX. Please share this recording in unaltered lossless quality. If you need to remaster, or something, let me know, and I can provide the unedited raw master (without EQ/volume tweaks) for you to use. -- MP October '19
