  • Curved Air - Sheffield City Hall, UK 16 July 1971 01 It Happened Today 02 Back Street Luv 03 Young Mother 04 Puppets 05 You Know 06 What Happens When You Blow Yourself Up/Propositions 07 Vivaldi 08 Stretch 09 Everdance/Vivaldi lineage: tape trade>Sony TC-WE725>Philips CD recorder>Soundforge>dBpoweramp Music Converter This recording was requested on the postings for the recent Leicester torrent. I've had this tape for about 15 years and have always hoped for a better copy to turn up. No luck so far. My tape was recorded with very low levels, I'm guessing previous generations were too, leaving a hell of a lot of hiss on my copy, I have reduced this a little in Soundforge but it's still not good. Sadly, the recording itself is obviously of very good quality though the tape has been edited somewhere in it's lineage, there are fades and cuts, it may not be the full show, at 45 mins it's pretty short unless they were the support act. As an impressionable 16 year old I was lucky enough to catch the fag-end of Curved Air at Bournemouth Winter Gardens in 1976, I thought they (and particularly Sonja) were fantastic though I didn't really know their music other than Back Street Luv. I was a keen photographer at the time with a borrowed Pentax (thanks Uncle Bert RIP), many years later a contact scanned my negs and they have been up on the Curved Air site for a few years. Check out the sweaty handed results at Is there any interest here for 90s Acid Folk recordings? I have 3 that I don't think I've ever traded.
